Wireless Home Network Problem?

Wireless Home Network Problem?

Ok so I have a 2Wire HomePortal 1000SW router which I get my internet from, which runs at 11 mbps. I recently added a Netgear N600 Dual Band wireless router to bump up the speed to 54 mbps. I then added a Netgear WN2000RPT range extender to extend the range throughout the whole house. The problem is that the connection speed is 54 mbps when I am connected to the Netgear N600, but it is still 11 mbps when I am connected to the range extender, even though I have all the devices on the same home network. Basically I need to find out how to get the range extender to transmit the 54 mbps signal instead of the 11 mbps signal. I really have no idea how to do this so if anybody does I would really love some help.

Additional Details

When I said that the speed is 54 mbps, I mean that it supports UP to 54 mbps. Sorry if there is any confusion.

  1. It is theoretically 54 mbps...and that is pretty much impossible speed for internet right now. The router can support up to 54 mbps is what it is saying.
