No you don't. Its just a method of identification. However, I suggest that you use your email address rather than your phone number in order to log on as I never trust internet sites.

If you're talking about the fact that you don't have the 'via blackberry' thing next to your status updates. Then you have to download the facebook application on the blackberry app store and then log in and use that instead. It'll then show it.
